A practical guide to your Pet Nannies of Austin experience

Straight answers about service area, safety, communication, and policy—drawn directly from our client policies.

General & Booking

Getting started

Which areas of Austin do you serve?

We serve Austin, Texas, and review each address individually for fit and availability as part of every inquiry. Travel outside our core service radius may include a mileage or travel-time charge, disclosed in your estimate. See our Service Area page for more.

How do I choose the right service?

Tell us about your pet and your schedule and we'll recommend a fit, or compare options yourself on our Services page.

What should I expect after requesting service?

We review availability, care needs, location, and timing; provide an estimate; collect required forms; and arrange a meet & greet when appropriate. A request is not confirmed until we approve it.

How far in advance should I book?

Five days' notice is preferred when possible. Last-minute or same-day requests are subject to availability and may include an additional $25–$50 fee.

Do you offer holiday care?

Yes, subject to availability. Holiday fees, deposits, minimums, and stricter cancellation terms may apply.

Can I change my schedule while I'm away?

Contact us as soon as possible. Changes depend on availability and may create additional charges.

Care & Communication

While you're away

Will I meet my caregiver beforehand?

Yes. Our complimentary Meet & Greet is intended to introduce you and your pets to the proposed caregiver whenever possible. If staffing changes later, we'll communicate and arrange an introduction when practical.

Will I always have the same caregiver?

Continuity is a priority, and we make every reasonable effort to assign a familiar caregiver. Availability, emergencies, or scheduling may occasionally require a qualified backup.

How will I receive updates?

Your caregiver sends photo or video updates through your agreed communication channel, generally after completed visits or at a reasonable daily cadence for overnight care.

Can you follow my pet's established routine?

Yes. We follow your pet's established schedule as closely as practical, adjusting only for weather, safety, or your pet's condition.

What types of pets do you care for?

We care for dogs and cats, including puppies and senior pets. Boarding is currently limited to dogs. For another type of household pet, tell us about them in your inquiry so we can determine whether appropriate care is available.

Can you administer medication?

Usually, yes, when you provide written instructions and clearly labeled medication. Complex procedures, injections, controlled substances, or resistant pets may require special approval or veterinary care.

How long can my pet be left alone during an overnight?

Your agreed care plan controls this. Overnight care is not automatically continuous supervision. Pets that cannot safely be left alone should be booked for Constant Care instead.

What happens if my pet becomes aggressive or stressed?

We use reasonable safety measures and contact you. Care may be modified, a hazard fee may apply, or future service may be declined. Any serious risks must be disclosed before booking.

Can my pet swim or go on field trips?

Yes, when approved as an enrichment add-on and appropriate for your pet. Activities can be changed or canceled for heat, weather, behavior, water safety, or health concerns.

What happens during extreme Austin heat?

Walks may be shortened or replaced with indoor enrichment. We won't follow an outdoor request that creates an unreasonable heat or pavement risk.

Safety & Home Access

Emergencies, keys, and cameras

What happens in an emergency?

We first protect immediate safety, attempt to contact you, contact your emergency person, and seek veterinary care when needed under your authorization.

How is access to my home handled?

Access information is limited to people who need it for the booking. Please provide a tested backup entry method. Locksmith or lockout costs caused by failed access are the client's responsibility.

Are cameras allowed?

Yes, but all indoor cameras and audio devices must be disclosed before service. Recording isn't permitted in bathrooms or sleeping/private areas provided to caregivers.

Can another person enter my home during a booking?

Yes, but you must tell us in advance. We're not responsible for third-party actions or for access problems created by undisclosed visitors.

What does boarding include?

Boarding is limited and approved case by case. We generally host one client family's dog(s) at a time. Standard arrival is 3:00–5:00 p.m.; departure is 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Payment & Policies

Billing, cancellations, and concerns

When is payment due?

Within three calendar days after services conclude. Payment must go directly to Pet Nannies of Austin rather than an individual caregiver.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations within 48 hours may be charged up to 50%. Same-day, holiday, custom-service, or in-progress cancellations may be charged more because the time was reserved.

Are gratuities expected?

No. Gratuities are optional. Please continue to pay the business directly for all service charges.

What should I prepare before I leave?

Confirm dates and travel details, update feeding and medication instructions, provide enough supplies plus a buffer, test primary and backup access, disclose cameras and visitors, secure hazards and restricted areas, confirm your veterinarian and emergency contacts, and notify us of any new health or behavior issue.

Who should I contact with a concern?

Contact Pet Nannies of Austin management promptly at (512) 550-6803 or info@petnanniesofaustin.com so the issue can be addressed while facts are current.
